Goliath of False Philosophies

Dear Friend of Creation Moments,

Lawrence Jones’s childhood was tough.  When his family was transferred to North Pole, Alaska from South Carolina, Lawrence was thrown into the often-violent world of an artic outpost. 

As a fifth-grader, Lawrence found himself in fights almost every day.  Knives were common.  Altercations usually resulted in bloodshed.  Wracked by fear, during recess Lawrence would dig a hole in the snow and hide to avoid yet another fight.  It was brutal.

One day, Lawrence’s class took a field trip to KJNP, a local Christian radio station.  (KJNP has aired and supported “Creation Momentsâ€� since the program began in 1986)  There, one of the station employees shared her testimony with the class.  Lawrence listened as the woman talked about Jesus Christ saving her from a life of drugs and hopelessness.  It was the first time he had ever heard the gospel. 

“I will always remember the lady at the radio station during that dark time in my life,â€� Lawrence, now 44.  “The ray of light she offered was enough to give me hope and to know that God was real and that He loved me.â€�

One woman’s faithful witness to truth in a dark, violent culture started Lawrence on a path that would lead to faith in Jesus Christ.  Today, Lawrence Jones actively serves God in full-time ministry and as a volunteer on the Creation Moments board.

Like David in the Old Testament facing Goliath, the woman at the radio station dared to speak the truth, not knowing what the outcome would be.  As a result, today Lawrence Jones is part of God’s family!

A Modern-Day Goliath

Like the courageous woman at KJNP, and like David of old, those of us who believe in the truth of creation face a Goliath.  Today’s Goliath—towering in human glory, seemingly unassailable—is evolution. 

Last year, Time magazine attacked biblical creation nine times.  The Washington Post ridiculed belief in biblical six-day creation as “retrograde…a national embarrassment…a fraud.â€� 

With Darwinian pseudo-science masquerading as truth, hordes of media elite continually cheer on their champion.  They allow no foothold for an acknowledgement of God’s six-day masterpiece. 

Rarely is science brought into the picture by these naysayers of creationism.  Instead, they hurl insults and attempt to marginalize the creation position.  The truth is, the facts against evolution of the species are overwhelming.  Truly, science itself is a strong enemy of evolutionism!

As our sophisticated media flexes its worldly muscle, we need not fret.  “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.â€�

When Goliath taunted the armies of Israel, David didn’t hesitate.  “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.â€�  David responded to Goliath’s threats not with fear, but with boldness.

Cultural Deception

Without the moral absolutes established by God, there can be no right or wrong.  Tainted by sin, mankind craves moral anarchy—“freedomâ€� from right and wrong.  God has warned us of this in the Bible,  “…there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts…  For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old…â€�

Lust (“the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the boastful pride of lifeâ€�) drives people to deception.  Many are willing to believe the universe sprang from nothing, when common sense tells them that the beauty, order, and complexity all around us in creation require a wondrous Creator.  Incredibly, they say “chanceâ€� waved a magic wand of “billions of yearsâ€� and we transformed from mineral to monkey to man.  For evolutionists, anything is better than facing God’s authority.

As in the days of Hitler’s Germany, popular culture is deceived.  As in the days of slavery, the people have succumbed to a lie.  We simply MUST stand now for truth.

Remember Lawrence Jones?  His journey from unbeliever to believer took time.  Yet even after placing his trust in Jesus Christ, no one told him about the truth of creation!

“Even as a born-again believer I was deceived by the worldly wisdom of evolution,â€� Lawrence says.  “I was in missions for years before being confronted with scientific facts for a literal six-day creation.  Never in college, in church, or even my years working in Christian radio had I heard the strong evidence for creation.â€�

“I knew God was real, but still I accepted evolution as God’s means for creation,â€� Lawrence continues.  “Like many believers, I bought a lie that undermines the potential faith of millions and supports the agenda of a God-hating elite.â€�

Confounding Evolution through Science

God created science and its laws.  When science is practiced without a humanistic bias, it always points to our God and Creator!

In this post-Darwinian age, evidence for variety within “kindsâ€� of animals is used to promote the false idea that animals evolved from one kind to another.  This is how deception works: a truth is turned into a half-truth, which then becomes a lie.

True, science demonstrates that kinds of animals make use of the enormous genetic information they already contain to produce variety within their kind.  But this is NOT evolution.  Extrapolation of this principle to change between kinds is pure conjecture.  It’s simply not scientific!

Evolution does not stand on the scientific method of repeated testing of hypotheses through experimentation.  Instead, evolution relies on an untestable assumption about incremental change over billions of years for “proof.â€�

The search for “the missing linkâ€� has become a joke.  Millions of fossils have been unearthed, but there are NO true transitional “missing linksâ€� found in the fossil record, or in any observed species!  There aren’t any because God did not rely on a life-and-death cycle over millions of years to get it right.  Still, even to this day textbooks continue to refer to debunked “missing linksâ€� as corroborating evolution.

The systems God has placed in us and in the animal kingdom do not work if they are only partially evolved or incomplete.  A pancreas is a pancreas!  Yet the concept of incremental formation of internal organs is still repeated on college campuses like a cultic mantra.

Confounding Evolution through the Bible

In the Bible, Adam is referred to as the first man not only in Genesis, but also in four other books.  Jesus referred to original creation several times specifically, and never does he or any other person in scripture speak of man’s beginning as anything other than a literal creation by God on the sixth day.

To say that living things evolved over millions of years through a life-and-death cycle is to say God’s work began as a series of mistakes that needed correcting.  Evolution says that God accepts imperfection; the Bible says “His way is perfect.â€�

Recently a friend asked me,  “Why is it important that schools teach creation, as long as we teach our own children the truth?â€�

In the twentieth century, tens of millions of people have been killed because they were presumed to be a lesser developed form of the human species.  Forty-six million babies have had their life-blood spilled “legallyâ€� in the United States alone since 1973.  Both these atrocities trace their support to evolution.  Still, these horrific consequences of evolutionary thinking aren’t the main answer to my friend’s question.

Why is it so important to sling a stone in the name of the Lord at the forehead of this giant, false philosophy?  Because evolution assumes the very place of God.  Following in Satan’s footsteps, evolution proclaims, “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.â€�  And it’s leading many astray…

Evolution is the false doctrine of this age.  It denies the Word of God just as Satan did in the Garden.  He deceives people today just as original man was deceived in Eden.  He debases man to that of an animal, mocking God’s image while at the same time exalting man as the highest form of animal.  Evolution says you, too, can become like God for â€œyour eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.â€�

Creation Moments provides tools to come against the plan of the enemy.  We are called by God to stand for truth.  Will you continue to join us in prayer, in action, and with your resources to continue to bring the truth to a darkened world?

We simply must fight this battle.  Pray for God’s intervention.  Study and prepare for the unique steps God leads you to make.  Then take action in your area of influence, whether it’s writing a letter to the editor, speaking to a group, teaching Sunday school, or talking with friends and coworkers.  Finally, please give.  Your generosity enables us to do the impossible.  With your continued help, we will be here to shine the light of God’s creation into the blackest deception.

We plan to use every means to come against the gates of hell.  We know from God’s Word that those gates cannot stand.  Now it is time to stand boldly, without wavering. 

God strengthens us for the battle, and He will bring victory to the hearts and souls of those who believe the Good News that God himself is their Creator.  Goliath WILL fall!  Be strong, and be courageous for the Lord your God is with you!
