An Open Letter to Christian Leaders from Creation Moments

Dear Pastor and Christian Leader,

I'm sure you agree with Christ's admonition that Christians are to be 'the salt of the earth'. As such we are to be the preservative which prevents decay in our culture and world.

But why does it seem like cultural and moral decay have accelerated in recent times? Could it be that Christian teaching does not wield the influence that it once did in this country? We submit that this is the case. Secular humanism with its atheistic presuppositions and moral relativism has become not only intellectually viable, but intellectually surrendered to for policy and behavior guidelines in our society and institutions.

It wasn't always this way. The Bible says that atheism is foolishness (Romans 1:20-25, Psalm 53:1), and for years our country and the whole Western World accepted theism as the only truly logical and intellectually viable conclusion about our existence.

What has happened is that Christians have allowed evolutionism to displace the God of Creation. We call it evolutionism because evolution is truly an 'ism', founded not on true science, but on the philosophic premise of naturalism, so that nature itself is somehow creator in a way similar to nature-based animism and pantheism. In the words of Romans 1:25, evolution puts the 'creature' in place of the 'Creator', and its acceptance is acceptance of 'the lie'. Pagan philosophy is thus replacing God's principles as the foundation of Western Civilization and of American Democracy.

The interesting thing is that evolution as a scientific hypothesis is weaker than ever before. One hundred fifty years after Darwin's proposals for evolution energized the atheist community of his day, the fossils don't show it, the scientific principle of entropy works against it, and biological science reveals incredible genetic information content pointing more than ever to Design and Creation.

The church can no longer afford to make the mistake of bowing before the high priests of evolutionism. There is no need to be intellectually intimidated by what amounts to 'science falsely so-called' (1 Tim. 6:20). Despite its current hold on public academia and media, evolutionism's scientific viability is more untenable than ever. Furthermore, as intellectual justification for formalized atheism, a.k.a. secular humanism, it is, as the Bible says, foolishness.

In an age when critiques of evolution are censored from public institutions and public media, it is more important than ever that Christians be properly equipped and encouraged to stand up to the unquestioned acceptance of evolution.
